The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund is delighted to have supported Rural Support Northern Ireland through the COVID-19 pandemic. The charity was also supported by The Prince's Countryside Fund which is part of PWCF. As Rural Support Northern Ireland celebrates its 20th Anniversary, The Prince of Wales will mark this milestone with a visit to the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise.

His Royal Highness will join an interactive market showcase of Rural Support Northern Ireland’s programmes and projects in the main hall and then meet groups including representatives and partners of The Prince’s Countryside Fund in Northern Ireland and the Young Farmers Club of Ulster, who were supported by The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF) last year. The two charities were supported by the PWCF COVID-19 Recovery Fund to re-engage people with their local, rural communities after the devastating impact of the pandemic.

The Prince of Wales will cut a cake and unveil a plaque to mark the twentieth Anniversary of Rural Support Northern Ireland. Rural Support was established in 2002 and provides a range of services for farmers and farming families across Northern Ireland all accessible via their support line. Rural Support received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2019 and their vision is of a vibrant, healthy and resilient farming community in Northern Ireland.

Rural Support received a grant from the PCF in 2015 to deliver a farm business mentoring programme in Northern Ireland supporting farm businesses with business management and future planning. PCF contracts Rural Support to deliver The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme in Northern Ireland which aims to help farm businesses secure a viable and resilient future by offering workshops on subjects including practical cost management, managing your farmed environment, succession planning and planning for the future.
