CPRE Gloucestershire awards recognise and celebrate projects across Gloucestershire which demonstrate sustainability and have resulted in significant improvements to the environment and facilities for communities.
The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund (PWCF) was presented with an award for our role in the reintroduction of the Large blue butterflies at Rodborough Common. The site is one of twelve butterfly habitats supported by PWCF through our major grant award to the Royal Entomological Society.
Several other organisations have been involved in the project, including the National Trust and voluntary organisations. Meticulous research has been necessary to properly understand the exacting habitat requirements of the butterfly and how they can be created and sustained.
Paula Wilson, Interim CEO of PWCF, said 'We are pleased to support the Royal Entomological Society in their important work and we look forward to sharing more success stories about the Large blue butterfly. We would like to thank CPRE for this award and for the recognition of our contribution'.
