With a PWCF major grant of £65,000 awarded in 2019, Caring for God's Acre (CFGA) delivered the Welsh burial grounds for wildlife project which created a digital system summarising biological records to rank the biodiversity value of individual burial grounds, reaching at least 350 sites across Wales.

The digital Ecological Summary will be easy to navigate for newcomers and will update automatically. By identifying important sites of biodiversity, CFGA will be better placed to offer bespoke support, advice and resources to volunteers who look after burial grounds.

CFGA is also working to create resources which will educate the wider public, including toolkits on subjects such as lichens and ancient yew trees. Through these resources, CFGA will both promote conservation methods and encourage exploration of lesser visited burial grounds.
