The King’s Foundation

Working nationally and internationally, the Prince’s Foundation regenerates and cares for places where sustainable communities can thrive and visitors can enjoy. At the heart of the organisation is the heritage-led regeneration of the Dumfries House estate and its wider community, where principles and philosophies are explored and put into practice. The Prince’s Foundation has been supported by The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF) for many years, most recently through a £1.2 million award in April 2021. Since 2018, PWCF has awarded the Foundation over £5.8 million through our grants programmes.

The work of the Foundation is inspired by The Prince of Wales’s philosophy of harmony: that by understanding the balance, the order and the relationships between ourselves and the natural world we can create a more sustainable future.

This year, the Foundation established a public exhibition space at Garrison Chapel in Chelsea to showcase the work of the charity, its students and its graduates. In particular, the Chapel will be a place to exhibit traditional art and heritage craft skills. These skills are taught to students and apprentices at Highgrove Gardens, Dumfries House and Charlotte Road, helping to conserve skills and art forms for future generations.

The Foundation have also created a powerful, diverse new children’s book about climate change, with a foreword by HRH. Written by Christopher Lloyd, and featuring illustrations created by 33 award-winning artists from around the world, It’s Up To Us was launched on 1st November to coincide with COP26.
