A PTI workshop

Professional Teaching Institute

Supports teachers at all stages of their career by delivering a wide range of professional development courses, enhancing subject knowledge and sharing best practice.

The Professional Teaching Institute (PTI)’s programmes are designed to improve the knowledge, effectiveness (and career progression) of teachers, thereby increasing the number of well-educated school leavers entering further and higher education and the workforce, to the benefit of local communities, wider society and the economy. The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund (PWCF) supports PTI programmes alongside the players of the People's Postcode Lottery (PPL).

Last year, PWCF supported the re-establishment of our residential courses, allowing 65 new Heads of Department and Head Teachers the opportunity to step away from the school environment and be reinvigorated and inspired.

This transformational course offered over 20 hours of lectures, teacher-led workshops, networking and mentoring as well as a year’s free membership of the Subject Leadership Programme, a national network of subject leaders who are committed to improving their subject provision.

Over 90% of teachers attending PTI courses agreed that what they learned on the course made them a better teacher, as well as making them less likely to leave the profession.
