The purpose of the grant was to help around 800 poverty-affected residents in Haverhill, Suffolk over the period 1 August 2019 to 31 January 2020 with a range of support. In reality, Reach Community Projects assisted 1025 individuals during this period.
The project helped improve quality of life and prospects for poverty-affected families by providing for their immediate emergency needs and addressing the root causes of their poverty wherever possible through advice and support.
Kristy and her daughter Daisy were one of the families supported through the project. As a young mother with a premature infant requiring many hospital visits, Kristy was struggling financially. Reach supported the family through food initially and then provided support for Kristy to apply for eligible benefits and services. As things are getting better for the family, Reach continues to provide practical and emotional support to Kristy and Daisy, along with hundreds of other families.
